I apologize for the lateness of this post. My name is Scott. I am Ms. Patty's brother, and I just now figured out how to access this blog. Cruel Mistress Patty passed away on April 13, 2025, aged 53.
She was admitted to Grant Medical Center on Feb. 13, unconscious and suffering from sepsis as well as pneumonia. She was on a ventilator for two weeks before the decision was made for her to undergo a tracheostomy.
in early March she was moved to Select Specialty Hospital South to recuperate. Soon she regained full consciousness, and they were able to restore her normal speech in her trach. She seemed to be on the road to full recovery.
In early April the decision was made to move Patty to a stepdown unit in order for her to regain full mobility, and eventually remove the trach. After her first choice (Mayfair) couldn't be used, the only one available to her, Arlington Court here in Columbus, was chosen and despite their bad reputation, they sent her there.
I and my nephew visited her twice between April 9 and 12, and while she wasn't a fan of the accommodations, she was recovering. On the morning of April 13, she had texted me and I sent her a video of the four kittens our cat had a couple weeks before. Everything was normal.
A few hours later I received a call from Arlington. There had been an emergency. Apparently, while one of Arlington's people had been suctioning out Patty's trach she suddenly couldn't breathe. While trying to get her breathing back Patty's heart stopped. They called the EMTs and got her to Riverside Methodist Hospital where, after unsuccessfully attempting to restart her heart Patty was declared deceased.
I know how much this website and its community meant to her. She has kept LeatherRealm going for 21 years now, and I want to keep the site up in order to honor her memory and her legacy. However, between her cremation and other expenses incurred by her passing, I am short of funds, and I have till May 17 to pay for another year of this site. I don't want to see LeatherRealm disappear and Ms. Patty's legacy with it.
My nephew started a GoFundMe page initially to help pay for Ms. Patty's final expenses, but I also want to not only use it to see her final wishes through, but also continue her legacy and memory by keeping LeatherRealm going for as long as I can.
So if any of you wish to help keep Ms. Patty's legacy going, please consider contributing to the GoFundMe. I am sure she would appreciate it as much as I would. Thank you. Here is the link: https://gofund.me/de8cdd86
